NEW
YORK, NY -- January 21, 2003 -- Illinois Online
Conference (IOC) today announced the selection of LearningTimes, a
leading provider of virtual communities for education, as Executive
Producer of its 2003 Online
Conference for Teaching and Learning to be held February 26-28,
2003 (8:00 a.m. CST).
Held entirely on the Internet, the 2003 Online Conference for Teaching
and Learning features interactive webcasts with 3 keynote speakers,
over 80 presentations and discussions based on the topics of: Innovation,
Technology, Leadership, Teaching and Learning, and Current Issues
in Illinois Education.
LearningTimes will collaborate with the IOC to create a community
experience with a full spectrum of real-time and on-demand communications
tools, including its hallmark "voice debates," asynchronous
voice-based discussion boards on timely learning-related topics. Other
features include traditional discussion boards moderated by presenters,
instant messaging; group calendars and event listings; team working
areas; surveys; and places to upload, annotate, collaborate on and
publish documents, images and applications specific to the conference.
"The best learning moments happen when people connect with other
people. That's what LearningTimes is all about, said Jonathan
Finkelstein, founder and Executive Producer of LearningTimes. "
Virtual classrooms and interactive webcasts will play a key role in
the Illinois Online Conference, providing for many live and recorded
special events. And our IOC community will allow the discussions that
begin and the relationships that are formed over the three days to
continue throughout the year."
The IOC Educational Team set high standards for our first online
event, said Deborah L.G. Hutti, Associate VP for Educational
Services at Lake Land College. This conference will provide
K-20 practitioners with an opportunity to share real-life experiences,
learn about new technology to support instruction, and express our
dreams about how the Internet and other distance delivery will enhance
learning. LearningTimes not only offers our unique community a wide
range of state-of-the-art tools, it also brings the years of experience
in producing high-quality interactive webcasts that are critical to
the training and support of over 80 presenters and 1000 attendees.
